Chapter 4

So they eat them and make small talk about the road and college until they get to the hotel. Once there everyone goes to their rooms except for Ally, Mandy, Brian and AJ. They sneak over to the club before anyone notices.

Mandy - "Why all the sneaking around?"

AJ - "We don't feel like taking a body guard with us."

Brian - "We can blend a little better this way."

Mandy - "Oh okay. So since we're under age how are we getting in?"

Brian - "This is a small club. I'll slip the door man a hundred and you guys are in."

Ally - "Sounds like you've done this before."

Brian - "Oh a couple times." They approach the door and Brian gets them all in with no problem. "Now let's see if we can find a table."

AJ - "The hell with the table let's dance girl." He grabs Mandy by the hand and they go out on the floor. In less then a minute they are lost in the crowd.

Brian - "That's probably the last we'll see of them for the night. Come on let's get a drink." He puts his hand on the small of her back and guides her through the club to the bar. As soon as they're seated the bartender is there. "What do you want?"

Ally - "You know how to make a whiskey sour." He nods and looks at Brian.

Brian - "I'll have the same and a couple shots of Hennessey." He leaves to make the drinks.

Ally - "Are you trying to get me drunk?"

Brian - "Hey I promised your brother I'd get you home I didn't say what shape you'd be in when you got there."

Ally - "In case I forget thanks."

Brian - "For what?"

Ally - "Taking me and Mandy out. I know that you're just doing it as a favor to Alec but I appreciate it."

Brian - "You've got it wrong he's the one doing me the favor. I made him bring you up to the concert. I don't get a chance to be with people that like me for me you know. It's nice catching up with old friends."

Ally - "And their little sisters."

Brian - "No I always counted you as one of my friends Ally."

Ally - "You did."

Brian - "Yeah." The bartender gets back with their drinks. Brian throws a twenty down and hands her a shot. "Here we go. Okay so what should we toast to?" Ally shrugs her shoulders. "How about getting to know each other again."

Ally - "Okay." They touch glasses and take their shots. She can't take her eyes away from Brian's.

Brian - "What are you thinking about?"

Ally - "It's stupid."

Brian - "Come on tell me." She drinks half her glass in one gulp.

Ally - "I was just thinking about when we were younger. I had this mad crush on you."

Brian - "I know."

Ally - "You did."

Brian - "Yeah. Alec told me. I thought about asking you out once." He takes a sip of his drink.

Ally - "Well why didn't you."

Brian - "You were my friend and Alec's little sister. It would have been too weird. Well that and the fact I was going out with Sam."

Ally - "Oh yeah Samantha."

Brian - "You still don't like her."

Ally - "I tried to, really I did. Especially after you left and she was the only way I could find out how you were. But she was just always really rude and stuck up."

Brian - "Well you don't have to worry about her anymore. We broke up like a year ago."

Ally - "yeah I know." She drinks the rest of her drink. "So what about now you seeing anyone?"

Brian - "Nah. I've decided that doing what I'm doing really doesn't give me time for a girlfriend."

Ally - "Yeah I could imagine."

Brian - "what about you? Did I tear you away from some big date tonight?"

Ally - "No. I've too busy with my classes and auditions and stuff to have anything serious."

Brian - "well then we're the perfect match aren't we. Both too busy." He finishes his drink. "Come on let's dance."

Meanwhile out on the dance floor Mandy and AJ are tearing it up. It seems like they've been dancing together forever. She seems to anticipate his ever move. The two of them look spectacular together and attract quite a crowd of observers. They dance for three songs then finally Mandy gives in.

Mandy - "AJ I need a drink."

AJ - "Okay. Follow me I'll try to find a table." She nods. He leads them off the dance floor and then reaches around to take her hand. "How about outside. They have heaters turned on out on the deck."

Mandy - "Okay." She didn't add that at the moment she'd follow him just about anywhere, including Siberia. They found a table under on of the heaters and sat down.

AJ - "I must say I'm impressed."

Mandy - "With what?"

AJ - "You. You are a hell of a dancer."

Mandy - "Thanks." The waitress comes and AJ orders a couple beers.

AJ - "How long have you been taking dance classes?"

Mandy - "I started when I was like fourteen, which is kind of late but I really enjoy doing it."

AJ - "Well you have a lot of talent."

Mandy - "Okay you can stop now I'm getting embarrassed."

AJ - "But I love seeing you blush." She turns her head so her hair falls in her face. "Okay I'll stop."

Mandy - "Thank you." The waitress comes back with their beers. Mandy goes to get money out of her purse.

AJ - "That's okay I got it." AJ hands her some money.

Mandy - "Thanks."

AJ - "Not a problem. When a lady's out with me she doesn't pay. My mama taught me right."

Mandy - "Well I'll have to remember to thank her then."

AJ - "So when's you're birthday again."

Mandy - "Two days before Christmas. It sucks all my life it was like this is your birthday and Christmas present."

AJ - "Well I'll make sure I get you two."

Mandy - "AJ let's be honest here okay."

AJ - "Okay."

Mandy - "This time next week you won't remember me. I like you and I just want to have fun being with you tonight. I don't expect you to call me on my birthday. I don't even expect you to call next week. So don't get my hopes up by talking about months from now."

AJ - "You think you've got me figured out don't you." He takes a sip of his beer.

Mandy - "Most guys are the same."

AJ - "I'm not most guys. Maybe I'll just surprise you." They sit in silence for a few minutes.

Mandy - "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that."

AJ - "It's okay."

Mandy - "No it's not I feel like I've offended you and now you won't even talk to me."

AJ - "Don't worry about it. Let's change the subject okay."

Mandy - "Okay. So how much longer are you guys on tour?"

AJ - "Till the end of the year. Then we go in the studio to record the new album."

Mandy - "Really. Great I can't wait I've so worn out my Backstreet Boys CD."

AJ - "Well then I'll have to put you on my list to get an advance copy."

Mandy - "Really. You'd do that."

AJ - "Yeah. That is if I remember who you are?"

Mandy - "Ha ha. Okay I deserved that. But can you blame me. I mean you probably pick up girls in every town you go to."

AJ - "No not really. I mean I do go out every now and then but most of the time I just go to clubs and dance and then that's it. I try not to single out one girl."

Mandy - "Then how did I get so lucky?"

AJ - "Because you have a set of the most amazing eyes I've ever seen." His eyes hold hers for a minute. "That and a great ass." She hits his arm. "What you do?"

Mandy - "Thank you. Yours isn't bad either."

AJ - "You were checking out my butt."

Mandy - "Well it's kind of hard not to when you kept rubbing it up against me." She gestures to the dance floor. "Oh look Brian and Ally are out dancing."

AJ - "They look good together."

Mandy - "Yeah. I hope he doesn't break her heart too bad."

AJ - "Why do you say that?"

Mandy - "Ally hasn't had that much experience with guys and I'm afraid she's going to fall hard for him and get hurt."

AJ - "Well I know Brian likes her. After he ran in to Alec in LA all he could talk about was, I remember when Ally did this or Ally did that."

Mandy - "Huumm. Interesting." Ally and Brian are dancing close to each other and smiling. "Come on I'm ready to go back out."

AJ - "I didn't even finish my beer." Mandy reaches over and finishes it for him.

Mandy - "There can we go now."

AJ - "Damn girl. Okay."

They all dance and drink having a good time until they have to close the place. They walk outside in the cold air. Mandy pulls her coat a little tighter to protect herself from the wind.

Mandy - "It feels like it's going to snow."

Ally - "It probably already did at school."

Mandy - "Speaking of which how are we getting home?"

Brian - "We're going to drop you on our way to New York."

AJ - "Shit its cold let's get upstairs." They walk into the lobby and head up to their floor. When they get off the elevator their one security guard Rich is there.

Rich - "I was wondering when the two of you where going to get back."

Brian - "Hey Rich. These are our friends Ally and Mandy."

Rich - "Ladies. Okay well you better get some sleep the bus is pulling out at nine sharp." He hands them a room key.

AJ - "Yeah yeah we know." They go down the hall to room 592. AJ opens the door. "After you ladies."

The girls walk in the room and then the guys come in and shut the door.

Brian - "Okay you two get this room. We're going to invade Howie's room."

Ally - "Are you sure?"

Brian - "Well I don't think Alec would approve of us sleeping together already do you?"

Ally - "You know that's not what I mean. We could go get our own room."

Brian - "No. Just make yourselves at home. Here I know you didn't come prepare to spend the night." He digs out a couple tee-shirts. "If I remember correctly you sleep in a tee-shirt."

AJ - "How do you know what she sleeps in?"

Brian - "Cause I use to spend the night at her house sometimes."

AJ - "Sure you did."

Brian - "Come on. Good night ladies. See you in the morning."

Ally - "Good night."

Mandy - "Sleep good." They leave. "Oh my God girl."

Ally - "I know. I had so much fun."

Mandy - "I don't want to sleep. I'm afraid I'll wake up and we'll be in our room and none of this would have happened."

Ally - "I kept pinching myself all night." Ally falls backwards on the bed.

Mandy - "Is Brian like you remembered him to be or has he changed." She sits next to her friend.

Ally - "he's changed a little bit. I mean he would have to the last time I saw him was like five years ago. But he's still funny Brian. He's definitely gotten cuter. What about AJ? Is he what you thought he would be?"

Mandy - "No not at all. I mean he puts on this act that he's like this big womanizer and he's not. He's really really sweet and funny. And so sexy."

Ally - "I think he likes you."

Mandy - "I think he's amused by me. I talked so much shit to him. I'm surprised that he even stayed with me all night."

Ally - "Well he seemed like he was having fun. But I think I'm going to get a shower. I'm so wound up that it might help me fall asleep."

Mandy - "Okay." Ally picks up one of the tee-shirts that Brian laid out.

Ally - "He is such a dork." She shows the shirt to Mandy.

Mandy - "A transformer tee-shirt. I don't get it."

Ally - "Me him and Alec used to watch this cartoon every day after school."

Mandy - "Oh geez."

Ally - "I'll be in the bathroom."

No sooner does Ally get in the shower there is a knock on the door. Mandy goes over and looks through the little peep hole. AJ is standing there looking up and down the hall. She opens the door.

AJ - "Hey." She stands in the doorway leaning against the door.

Mandy - "Forget something?"

AJ - "Yeah." She steps out of the way and lets him in. "Where's Ally?"

Mandy - "In the shower." She moves to stand by the dresser.

AJ - "I was about to get one myself when I realized I forget a clean pair of boxers." He digs in his suitcase and holds up a pair of black boxers with green alien faces on them. "Got'em."

Mandy - "Okay I'll see you in the morning then."

AJ - "Okay. The bus leaves at nine so we'll probably be here at like 8:45."

Mandy - "okay." He walks towards the door and then stops. "Did you forget something else?"

AJ - "Kind of." He walks to where she is standing. "Good night." He places his hand under her chin and tips her face up so he can kiss her. It's a good thing that Mandy was standing by the dresser because she had to put her hands on it to hold herself up. As suddenly as he kissed her he stopped. "See you in the morning."

Mandy - "Right. Morning."

AJ - "Sleep well."

Mandy - "Okay." He leaves and she is still standing there when Ally comes out.

Ally - "Did I hear someone come in?"

Mandy - "Yeah AJ forgot his boxers."

Ally - "Oh. Are you alright?"

Mandy - "He kissed me."

Ally stops towel drying her hair. "He kissed you."

Mandy nods and then starts grinning. "Oh my God. AJ kissed me!"

Ally - "What was it like?"

Mandy - "Very soft. He's got great lips. And it wasn't like when you kiss other guys and they're like forcing their tongue in your mouth. It was sweet."

Ally - "I can't believe he kissed you. See I told you he liked you."

Mandy - "I'm never going to get to sleep."

Ally - "Well try. Morning is going to get here before you know it and you don't want to look all puffy."

Mandy - "True. I'm just going to go to sleep I'll take a shower in the morning so I can look fresh." She starts to change in to the other tee-shirt.

Ally - "Okay well good night." She gets under the covers of one of the beds.

Mandy - "Good night." She climbs in to the other bed. "Ally?"

Ally - "Yeah."

Mandy - "I'm glad you're my friend."

Ally - "Why because I introduced you to AJ."

Mandy - "Well yeah but also because you're cool to hang out with and you try to watch out for me. Most people wouldn't have taken the time to get to know me."

Ally - "Well maybe I just realized that you were worth the time. Good night."

Mandy - "Ally?"

Ally - "Yes Amanda."

Mandy - "AJ kissed me."

Ally - "I know go to sleep."

Mandy - "Ally?"

Ally - "I swear if you don't shut up."

Mandy - "Good night."

Ally - "Good night."
