The cake had just been cut and Abby was at the head table eating her slice.

Joey - "Hey beautiful."  He sits down next to her.

Abby - "Hey baby. Did you get some cake?"

Joey - "I hate cake. So you about ready to get out of here?"

Abby - "What now?"  She looks around.  "Okay what room?"

Joey - "23064."

Abby - "Okay you go ahead up I've got to ditch Simon."

Joey - "Don't be long."  He winks at her and then leaves.

Abby gets up to find her father.  He was dancing with Dona. She looked like she was trying not to cry.  She decided not to bother them and goes to find Suzanna.  She was floating around the room making sure everyone got a piece of cake.

Abby - "Hey I'm getting out of here."

Suz - "But I haven't thrown the bouquet."

Abby - "I know. That's why Simon won't be expecting me to leave."

Suz - "Be careful."

Abby - "I'm only going upstairs."

Suz - "okay thank you so much for being here for me."

Abby - "You're welcome. You look so beautiful."  She starts tearing up again. Abby had cried through the whole ceremony.

Suz - "Stop I can't cry again."  She had started to tear up too.

Abby - "But these are happy tears. I love you." They hug.

Suz - "I love you too."

Abby leaves through a side door and takes the employee elevator up.  She makes her way to the room and the door is slightly ajar so she walks in.  There are roses on every table, wine chilling, candles everywhere, and a cd player on the night stand by the bed, but no Joey.  He must have came up early to set this all up.  Its very unlike him.

She decided to slip in to the bathroom and get out of her
dress.  She hears the door open and close and wearing nothing but her underwear she walks into the room.  The sexy look on her face disappeared as soon as she saw Brian.

He turned around when he heard the door.  They looked at
each other dazed for a few seconds.  Abby then realizing she's all but naked grabs a robe and throws it on.

Abby - "What are you doing here?"

Brian - "I'm meeting some one what are you doing here?"

Abby - "I'm meeting Joey you have to leave."

Brian - "You must have the wrong room."

Abby - "What room is this."

Brian - "32064."  The lights go out.  Abby doesn't scream, she justs waits for the generator to kick on.  It doesn't.

Abby - "Okay what happened to the generator?"

Brian - "Just give it a couple minutes."

Abby - "Its really dark."

Brian - "Yeah. Its too dark." He makes his way to the
window. "The whole citys out!"

Abby - "What?!?"  She makes her way over and hits her shins on a chair. "Ouch."

Brian - "Be careful."  She looks out the window.

Abby - "Oh this is creepy. I've never seen it so dark."  She had grown up in Las Vegas so she's not use to complete darkness.  "I've got to get out of here Joey's going to be looking for me."

Brian - "Hate to tell you this but you're stuck until the power comes back on. The door is an electronic lock."

Abby - "I can't be stuck in here with you." Brian lights a candle.

Brian - "Don't worry I won't take offense to that."  She's trying the door.

Abby - "That's not what I mean."

Brian - "Its not going to open." He's lighting the rest of the candles.  Abby finally gives up and sits on the bed.

Abby - "I can't believe this is happening."

Brian - "Its not the end of the world. The lights will come on and you can go met Joey."  He says Joey like it was a bad taste in his mouth.  Abby's upset about the whole situation so she's willing to fight.

Abby - "What is your problem with him?"

Brian - "I don't have a problem with him exactly."

Abby - "Then what is the problem exactly."

Brian - "He doesn't treat you right."

Abby - "Should he be more like you. Arrange a beautiful encounter and then dump her a month later."

Brian - "No he should just be nicer to you. You deserve better then him."

Abby - "You don't know anything about him. He might be rough around the edges but he loves me and that is something I can count on. When you are with some one for more then a minute then you have a right to judge. Okay."

Brian - "I would rather be with some one for a month then tied to some asshole who is only after the postion I could give him."

Abby - "That is not what's going on."

Brian - "that is exactly what is going on and you just refuse to see it. You're to busy trying to keep him happy and he tells everyone that will listen how excatly you do it."  He walks up close to her.  "I can barely stand to look at you after the stories I've heard."  She slaps his face.

Abby - "How dare you talk to me like that! Do you not remember who I am!"

Brian - "Of course I do. You are more then happy to remind everyone every chance you get."

Abby - "I don't need to listen to this."

She turns ready to leave and then she remember she's locked in here with him. Instead she storms in to the bathroom and slams the door, its pitch black.  She sits on the floor with her back to the cabinet.  He has to be lying, she thinks.  Joey wouldn't disgrace her like that.  Then she thinks of the way some of his friends look at her.  She tries to hold back the tears but they come anyway, she feels dirty.  She starts the water for a shower.  Brian walks in with a glass of wine.  Quickly she wipes away the tears.

Abby - "What do you want?"

Brian - "To say I'm sorry." He hands her the glass.  "I shouldn't have said those things to you."

Abby - "I egged you on."

Brian - "But I hurt you and I'm sorry."

Abby - "I've been hurt before. Can I have a candle I'd like to take a shower."

Brian - "Sure."  While he's gone she downs the wine he gave her.  He comes back with the candle and she hands him the empty glass.  "Is this going to be enough light or do you want another candle?"

Abby - "No its fine thank you."  She used that you're excuse tone that she knows he hates.

Brian - "Then I'll leave you to your shower."  He doesn't take the bait.  He leaves and Abby gets in the shower.  She can't seem to get rid of this awful feeling that she has.  She doesn't know why she's fighting with Brian.  She's not mad at him she's mad at herself.  She's mad at the person he sees when he looks at her. She doesn't know why his opinion of her matters so much but it does.  She finishes and walks back out to the room.  He had turned on some music and it was playing softly.

Abby - "Did the power come back on?"  She tries the switch.

Brian - "No it has batteries. The radio said they don't know what the problem was but we might not have power until morning."

Abby - "Are you serious?"

Brian - "Yeah we might be stuck in here awhile so lets call a truce for now okay."

Abby - "Okay."

Brian - "Do you want another glass of wine?"

Abby - "Please." He pours it and hands it to her.  "Who is this playing?"

Brian - "Harry Connick Jr."

Abby - "I thought so. I love his voice."  She sits on the bed resting her back against the headboard.  "This is a nice set up you got here. She's a lucky girl."

Brian - "She's alright."

Abby - "who is she?"

Brian - "Sophia." He sits on the end of the bed.

Abby - "My cousin Sophia. Oh I wouldn't get mixed up with her."

Brian - "Why?"

Abby - "Well she's kinda crazy. I don't mean like fun crazy I mean like seeing a shrink crazy."

Brian - "She seemed fine to me."

Abby - "That's cause she hasn't went off her medication recently. Just trust me don't make long term plans with her."

Brian decides to change the subject before they start argueing again.  "So you think Kevin and Suzanna will live happily ever after."

Abby - "Yeah I do. They really love each other."

Brian - "You know they've been seeing each other for awhile."

Abby - "You knew too. Did Kevin tell you?"

Brian - "No I kind of figured it out."

Abby - "I'm so happy for them."  She stretches her legs out.  "So any marriage plans in the future for you?"

Brian - "I don't think so."

Abby - "Oh come on you'll find some one to make you happy."

Brian - "Thats not the problem."

Abby - "Then what's the problem."

He thinks for a minute and then smiles up at her.  "I don't think I've had enough to drink to bare my soul to you."

Abby - "Oh now that sounds interesting. I'll have to get you drunk."  She gets up and goes gets the bottle and refill his glass.  "Drink up." He laughs.

Brian - "We're going to need something stronger then this." He opens the mini bar and makes them both a drink. "Here try this."

She takes a small sip and winches at how potent it is.  "Whats in it?"

Brian - "A little of this a little of that."

Abby gets up and goes to the window.  "Have you ever seen so many stars?"

Brian - "Yeah. When I was little my dad took us all to Rome
and I remember my mom and I standing on the balcony and her pointing out the constellations and telling me the stories that the ancient Romans had to go with them."

Abby - "Really. Do you remember them?"

Brian - "Yeah, when I miss them too much I drive out up to the damn and look at the stars."  He's looking at them now.

Abby - "I'm sorry they died I would have liked to met them."

His eyes are watery.  "I think they would have wanted to met you too."

Abby - "So lets make up a game."

Brian - "What kind of game?"

Abby - "Lets try to figure out where everything is. And if we're wrong then we have to take a drink.

Brian - "Okay but how do we know if we're right."

Abby - "Umm, if the other person can't prove you wrong then you're right."

Brian - "Okay."

So they play this game for about a half an hour.  Abby gets pretty tipsy.  Brian who is use to drinking is doing a lot better.  He wasn't really paying attention to how much she was drinking.  Otherwise he would have stopped her long before he did.

Brian - "I think you might have had enough."

Abby - "What? No Im fine."  She goes to sit in a chair and fell on the floor.

Brian - "Yeah I would say youre flagged. Come on lay down."

Abby - "I don't want to lay down. This is one of my favorite songs, will you dance with me?"

Brian - "yeah."

He takes her hand to help her up and then puts his arms around her.

Harry Connick Jr. is singing,

It seems like we've stood and talked like this before.
It seems like we've looked in the same way at each other before.
But I can't remember where or when.
The clothes you are wearing you wore before
The smile you are smiling, you were smiling before.
But I can't remember were or when.
Something that happened for the first time
Seems to be happening again.
And so it seems that we have met before
And laugh before, and loved before
But who knows where or when.
Some things that happen for the first time
seem to be happening again
And so it seems that we've met
And laughed before, and loved before
But who knows where or when.
Who knows where or when.

Abby can't take her eyes off Brian's during the song.  She fell in love with him during that song. His gentle touch on her back felt more like he was guiding her instead of restraining her.  His eyes were warm with love and not passion.  She felt safe with him, she knew he wouldn't hurt her.  He had been there in the past and would be in the future.  She laid her head on his shoulder and prayed the song wouldn't end.  Finally it was the end of the song and of the CD.

They stood there in silence with his arms around her, neither in a hurry to move.  She could feel his breath on her neck.  She looks at his face again.

Abby - "Did you ever wish you were some one else?"

Brian - "All the time."

Abby - "Who would you be?"

Brian - "Its going to sound stupid."

Abby - "It can't be worse then mine."

Brian - "Well I would have a place far from here. Maybe in Colorado
and have a small house and a simple legal business."

Abby - "Would you have a family?"

Brian - "Yeah."  He brushes a stray hair out of her face. "Who would you be?"

Abby - "A good person. A person you would want to be with."

Brian - "You already are a person I want to be with."

Abby - "You do."

Brian - "Yeah," he pauses. "I'm going to put some more music on."  He goes and starts a new CD.

Abby - "Its starting to get hot in here."  She felt she needed to say something but  couldn't think of anything.

Brian - "Its from all the candles. With the power out the air is not kicking on and well these windows where not designed to be opened.  Sorry I can't do anything about it."

Abby - "I would probably be fine if I wasn't in this robe."

Brian pulls a shirt out from a drawer.  "Here put this on it should be long enough and I'll blow out some candles."  She hesitantly takes the shirt from him.  "Its okay."

Abby goes to the bathroom and slips it on, then blows out the candle burning in there.  She came back out and Brian had just one candle burning.

Abby - "Sorry I just feel kind of weird now."

Brian - "well don't. Would you like to dance again?"

Abby - "Yes."  He holds out her hand and she puts her in it.  She closes her eyes and just enjoys being with him.  Trying hard to memorize everything about him even his scent.  "Did you mean what you said?  That you wanted to be with me?"

Brian - "yeah I do.  I know that when the lights come on you have to go back to Joey. But for right now you are in my arms."  As if he needed to remind her he tighten his hold on her.

Abby - "I wish we could be those people."

Brian - "For the rest of the night we are. Its just you and me and a radio and a few candles. I just want to be with you for as long as this last."

Abby - "Okay, for the rest of the night no more talking about Joey or our families. Just each other."

Brian - "Just Abigail and Brian."

Abby - "That sounds nice."  She once again lays her head on his chest and lets him lead her around the room.  They dance in silence through two songs.  The room starts to spin.  "I think I need to lay down."

Brian - "okay."  She lays down on the bed and he pulls a chair over to sit by her.

Abby - "Tell me something about you that I don't know."

Brian - "Something you don't know. I can't swim."

Abby - "You can't swim."

Brian - "Not only can I not swim but I'm afraid of the water."

Abby - "I've always loved the water. Which doesn't make any sense
since I grew up in the desert."

Brian - "You've always lived here."

Abby - "Yeah. Where did you grow up?"

Brian - "Lots of different places. We lived in
New Orleans when my parents passed."

Abby - "How old were you? Is this okay to talk about or is it going against the rules?"

Brian - "No its okay. I was 14, Nick was nine. There was nothing spectacular about their deaths one minute they were driving along and the next they got hit by a drunk driver and where gone."

Abby - "I'm sorry we don't have to talk about this."

Brian - "No its okay. I actually want you to know this. It helps explain me. I was very close to parents and when they died it was very difficult to see how things whereever going to get better. I was strong for Nick's sake and it brought us closer. But I
discovered later that I couldn't keep a relationship for more then a few months. I would get scared about losing them and chase them away. So I just planned on being myself the rest of my life and I was fine with that decision until I met you." He moves over and sits on the bed next to Abby.  "It was like there was something familiar about you. The way your eyes sparkled fascinated me. I didn't realize it at first cause well you were..."

Abby - "A spoiled brat."

Brian - "I was going for bitch," She playfully hits him.  "But I just figure it was cause I
drank too much. Then that day I was at your house when Suzanna was kidnapped. I saw this girl that needed some one to love her so much. And no matter how annoying you where after that I still saw that girl every time I looked at you."

Abby - "I wish things were different."

Brian - "tonight they are."  He leans down and kisses her very softly.  She had never been kissed like that before. All Joeys kisses were urgent with not a lot of tenderness in them.  She couldn't help but cry.  "I'm sorry. Please don't cry. I didn't mean to upset you."

Abby - "You didn't. I'm crying because I can't believe some one like you wants me.  Please Brian kiss me again."  He does he kisses her until her head spins.  She gently pushes him away.  "We better stop."

Brian - "okay its late you should get some sleep."  He gets up and she grabs his hand.

Abby - "Will lay next to me?"

Brian - "I don't know if thats a good idea."

Abby - "Please I won't touch you, I won't kiss you.  I just really want to fall asleep next to you."

Brian - "Scoot over."  She smiles and does as he asks.  He gets in bed fully clothed. "Come here." She snuggles up to him.  "Now go to sleep."

Abby - "Okay."  He rubs her back to try to get her to go to sleep.  It doesn't work.  She's fully awake and very aware of his heartbeating.  She starts playing with one of the buttons on his shirt.

Brian - "Can't sleep."

Abby - "no I'm trying."  He covers her hand with his and brings it to his lips and kisses it.  She looks up at him and kisses his lips.

With a moan he rolls her over on her stomach and starts kissing the back of her neck.  The feeling is incredible and she lets him continue for a few minutes before she rolls back over and sits up.  She kisses him more forcefully then he was expecting and reaches for his shirt buttons.

Brian - "Slow down it doesn't have to be so fast."  She slowly unbuttons his shirt and slip to off his back.  He lays her back down.  The feel of his skin under her fingers is almost as arousing as his kisses.  His hand wanders up and starts to massage her breast. She moans against his lips as she feels him getting harder against her leg.  He slowly works his way down and starts licking her nipple through the tee shirt.  The clothes barrier is making Abby crazy.  She wants to feel his lips all over her body.  Her hands go down his back till she reaches the waistband of his pants.  Then she moves around to the front, he stopped her.  "You know we can't go any further."

Abby - "yes we can. We're not us. We're those other people."

Brian - "but what about the consequences to us."

Abby - "we'll leave everything that happens here.  Here in this room with the simple businessman and his wife."

Brian - "Are you sure?"

Abby - "I've never been more sure of anything."

Brian - "okay."  He kisses her with a renewed tenderness.  "Just relax we've got time."

Abby - "Okay."  She cups his face with her hands and looks deep in his eyes.  He gives her a little smile and kisses her cheek and then travels down to her neck.

His hand quickly discards the shirt she was wearing so she's laying there in nothing but a pair of underwear.   She once again find the button in the front of pants.  This time he doesn't stop her as she takes them off.  He was so aroused that he was coming out of his boxers so he took them off.  Then they laid there kissing for what seemed like forever.  Abby would reach down to touch him and he would stop her.  Finally as he was kissing her stomach he took off her panties.  She got a little nervous cause she had only been with Joey.  Brian had been with a lot of women and she was afraid of not being good.

He sensed  her hesitation.  "Do you want to stop?"

Abby - "No."

Brian - "You sure."

Abby - "Yes. Please Brian make love to me."  He kisses her and then gets a condom off the side table.  Something Joey never even thought of.

He kisses her softly as he enters her.  At first it was surprising it didnt hurt.  Abby could count on one hand the number of times that it didn't hurt with Joey.  But Brian quickly puts all thoughts out of her head.  He slowly starts to move inside her.  It was better then anything she had ever felt before she was able to relax and just feel the sensations as they came.  He loved her and that is what made everything different.  All of a sudden she got what felt like a build of of pressure.

Abby - "Oh my God!"  She started tensing up.

Brian - "It's okay just relax Abby.  It's okay baby, I love you."

Something about him saying those words made her climax right then.  He held on to her so tight and just stayed with her until she came down.  When she had regained her sense she could tell that he was close himself.  She pulled him closer so he went deeper and kissed him.  He opened his eyes and looked at her.  A strange expression came across his face.  He withdrew himself before he finished and was off the bed and in the bathroom so fast she didn't know what happened.

She was lying there covered in the sheet and crying when he came out.  He rushed over and held her.  "Please don't cry."

Abby - "What did I do wrong?"

Brian - "Nothing. You did nothing wrong. I did. I should have never let things go that far."

Abby - "You didn't force me. Hell you didn't even have to talk me in to it, it was my idea."

Brian - "but I should have let it happen. It was just a beautiful dream I wanted to come true."  Abby's still crying.  "Oh baby now what are we going to do? I can't let you go."

Abby - "then dont. Just keep holding me and the world will stop."

Brian - "I wish it would."  He holds her for a little while longer.  "We better get dressed."

Abby picks up her dress and goes back to the bathroom.   She tries to do something with her hair but it's hopeless.  Walking back to the other room she gets a chill.  She goes over and feels at the vent.

Abby - "Hey the airs back on."  Brian flips the light switch and shatters their little dream world. Even in the harsh light the room is still magically to Abby.  She walks to the window and looks at all the lights on the Strip.  Brian walks up behind her and kisses her neck.

Brian - "we should probably go."

Abby - "yeah."  They walk to the elevator and start down.  He hits the stop button.  "What are you doing?"

Brian - "I can't do this. I can't take you back to him. I can't stand to think of him kissing you and touching you or even breathing the same air as you. I need you."

Abby - "what do you want me to do. Papa would not approve of this.  As far as he is concerned Joey and I are married."

Brian - "I know but all Im asking for is time. Try to hold him off. I'll figure something out." He comes over to kiss her.

Abby - "Dont, the cameras."  He cusses and starts the elevator.

Abby sees Simon as soon as the doors open.  He looks mad, really mad.  Thankfully Suzanna makes it to her first.  "Where were you?"

Abby - "I went to the wrong room and then got locked in when the power went out."

Brian - "She was with me."

Suz - "Everyone has been going ape shit looking for you. When Joey said that you weren't in your room we thought some one grab you.  Couldn't you have called to let us know you were alright."

Abby - "I didn't even think about using the phone."

Suz - "That's okay at least you weren't by yourself.  Thanks for watching her Brian."

Brian - "Its not like she's a puppy she would have been fine by herself."

Simon - "I'm getting a tracking device installed on you."

Abby - "I'm sorry Simon I was only upstairs."

Simon - "You could have told me. It not like I would have stood outside and listened."

Abby - "Okay I've learned my lesson I won't do it again. Where's papa?"

Suz - "He's gone."  They all knew he was leaving town but never knew when. Joey came out of another elevator just then and ran over to Abby. He picks her up in a spinning hug.

Joey - "where were you I was so worried." He actually seems like he was.  "Are you alright?"

Abby - "Yeah I got the room number wrong."

Joey - "Knucklehead what room did you go to?"

Brian - "Mine." Joey looks at him. There is a tense moment. All Suzanna can think of is that everyone will remember her wedding cause Joey and Brian killed each other the day after.

Suz - "Well we're just glad that you weren't by yourself when the power went out. Or worse stuck in an elevator like poor Sophia. We had to take her to the hospital."

Joey - "yeah well lets get you home."

Abby - "okay."  He leads her away and she gives Brian one last look over her shoulder. If anyone other then Suzanna would have seen it their little secret would have been called.

She looks at Brian and give him a sympathic squeeze.  "You look like you need a drink."

Brian - "that might help."

Suzanna and Kevin leave on their honeymoon the next day.  On the plane ride over she talks to him about Brian and Abby.

Suz - "I think some thing happened between Abby and Brian."

Kev - "What do you mean?"  He's flipping through a magazine.

Suz - "Will put that down and listen to me." He does.

Kev - "Alright you have my full attention."

Suz - "More happened in the room then we know."

Kev - "Look I talked to Brian He said that they had a little argument but then they worked it out and just listened to some music until the power came back on."

Suz - "Yeah I know but you didn't see the two of them when they got out of the elevator. It was like he was taking her to death row or something."

Kev - "Well she knew she was in trouble and Brian probably just felt bad for her.  His got this whole women need to be protected thing about him."

Suz - "I'm telling its more then that. I think they're in love."

Kev - "Don't be ridiculous. They're so different."

Suz - "I know and they have argued so much in the past but something has changed between the two of them. She reminds me of me right after I figured out I loved you."

Kev - "Come to think of it Brian is acting strange too. I bet the two of them elope while were in Italy
."  Suzanna hits him.

Suz - "Now you're just making fun of me."

Kev - "I know I'm sorry. Look if they are there's nothing we can do about it until we get back. So try not to worry about it the whole time okay."

Suz - "I'll try but you'll just have to pay extra attention to me to make sure."

Kev - "Thats do-able." He leans over and kisses her.

Act Eleven: Will You Marry Me?
