AJ pulls the rental into the valet at the hotel he is staying at and looks over at Vivian.  She had fallen asleep on the ride back from Vegas.  He couldn’t blame her, neither one of them had slept much since they met 72 hours ago.  Was that really all it was, he thinks to himself. 

The valet comes over but AJ holds up his finger asking for a minute.  He gentle reaches over and takes Vivian’s hand.  He brings it to his face and breaths in the perfume on her wrist.  He had no idea what it was but it made his head dizzy.  She wakes up slowly and turns to look at him.  The sleepiness still in her eyes.  “Are we there?”

“Yeah we just pulled up to the hotel.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you.”

“It’s alright you were tired.”

“But I wanted to keep you company.”

“That’s sweet.  So you want to go in?”

She smiles at him playfully, “Are you going to walk me to my door?”

“of course.” He laces his fingers through hers.

“I should warn you I don’t kiss on the first date.”

He laughs and just then his phone rings.  “Excuse me.  Hello?”

Brian – “Hello.”

AJ – “Hey man what’s up?”

Brian – “Not much you make it back to town yet?”

AJ – “Yeah Vivian and I are sitting outside the hotel now.”

Brian – “Do you guys have plans for tonight?”

AJ – “I don’t think so.”  He looks over and sees Vivian is on her phone as well.

Brian – “Well Jess wants to have everyone over for a BBQ or something thing you can make it?”

AJ – “I think so.  Hey man can I give you a call later I have some things I need to talk to someone with a level head about.”

“Yeah sure.”  Brian’s curiosity is pricked.  “But considering the events of the past 4 days of my life are you sure I’m a level head?”

“Hmm, maybe not but I have always liked your advice the best.”

“is it about Vivian?”

“Yeah.”

“Well I think she wants everyone to get here around dinner time so we will try to talk then.”

“Sounds good see you in a couple hours.”

He hangs up the phone and hears Vivian talking to me.  She is laughing.  “okay I’ll see you soon.  Love you.”  She shakes her head.  “Sometimes she is so retarded.”

“Yeah but she is lovable that way.  You want to go get freshened up before we go over?”

“Yeah.” 

Well AJ ran into Summer on his floor so they decide that everyone would just head over together.  When they all arrived and Brian answered the door with one of the boys in his arms.  Nick couldn’t resist.  “Oh look how cute he looks the proud papa with his little bouncy baby boy.”

He holds the door open for everyone else but attempts to shut it on Nick.  “You just wait.  Hey guys hold up a minute.”  All four of them stop and look at him.  “Don’t say anything to Jess about Howie not coming.  He is being an idiot and said something about feeling left out because he’s single.  I tried to point out that Jess and I were not dating but he said something about us being tied for life and he was going to feel left out.”

“Yeah I really wonder what he was talking about there.”  Summer says as she takes Tommy out of his arms.

Brian – “Yes I know what he was talking about but Jessica is like all hormonal and I just don’t want her to get upset over him being stupid.”

AJ – “It’s all good Bri, no worries.” 

They all walk out to the deck where I was trying to get the propane bottle hooked up.  “hey everyone.”

Nick – “Here Jess let me get that.” 

Nick was able to get the grill going and Loren and Kevin called because they were on their way and wanted to know if we needed anything picked up.  Nick and AJ both said beer because they assumed I didn’t have any which I didn’t.  Tommy had finally fallen back asleep so I took him upstairs with the girls behind me.  As soon as the slider closes Brian turns to AJ.  “So what’s up man?”

AJ – “Well I am falling madly in love with that girl in there.”

Brian – “And that’s a problem because.”

AJ smiles, “its not I just wanted to tell someone.  But I am really afraid of scaring her off you know.  When we pulled up to the hotel earlier the only thing I could think of was that I wasn’t going to be waking up next to her in the morning.”

Nick started taunting him.  “AJ’s in love.”  AJ glares but chooses to ignore him.

Brian – “Well she obviously likes you I mean you guys spent how many days in Vegas.”

Actually the topic on what they did in Las Vegas was being discussed upstairs.  After checking on the boys I drug the girls into my room and shut the door.

I look at both girls.  “Okay I am in desperate need of girl talk.  I want details of what happened in Vegas.”

Vivian glances nervously at Summer, they don’t really know each other.  Summer just shakes her head.  “She did this same thing to me over the phone when Nick and I got back together she wanted all the details of how I made him beg.”

Me – “Which I still don’t think was near long enough.  Come Vivian it’s just us girls Summer is cool she been AJ”s friend for years.”

Viv – “Alright but after I fess up it is your turn.”

Me – “Agreed.”

We all get comfy on the couch.  “So what do you want to know?”

Me – “How did he ask you out?”

Viv – “He chased me down when I left your room and asked me for my phone number.  We went out to dinner and then he jokingly said let’s go to Vegas.  I said I didn’t have anything better to do.  I honestly didn’t think he was serious.”

Me – “When did he first kiss you?”  Summer makes a gagging sound.  “Hey you make out with a guy who admits to not brushing his teeth everyday.”

Summer – “trust me he does when he is with me.”

Me – “Anyway, when did he first kiss you?”

Vivian gets a dreamy look on her face.  “It had started to rain while we were driving just like some freak little desert storm or something so we pulled over to put the top up.  As soon as we stopped it started to really come down.  My side was stuck on something so AJ came over to get it unstuck and then he bumped into me and I slipped and grabbed his arm.  He looked at me and before I knew it I was in his arms and he was kissing me.”

Summer – “With the rain falling on you?”  Vivian nods blushing.  “That is so romantic.”

Vivian – “Yeah it was.  Okay I spilled a little bit now it is your turn mama.”

I lick my lips nervously.  “Okay what do you want to know?”

Vivian – “Are you really okay with Brian here?”

Me – “Yeah it really has been great.  He is going to take the room on the other side of the nursery and make it his.”

Summer – “Okay maybe I’m just turning into a perv from hanging out with Nick and AJ but where did he sleep last night.”

Me – “Well he started out on the couch and then the boys woke up and when we went back to sleep I offered him a side of my bed.  But nothing happened.”  Summer and Vivian looked at each other.  This might have only been the 2^nd time they met but they both know me.  “Really guys I’m okay.”  Loren shows up then and just walks in.

Loren – “I so feel like I’m in Jr’ High again.”  She sits on the floor facing us.  “So whose boyfriend are we talking about?”

Summer – “Jess and Brian slept together last night!”

Loren – “Jessica!”

Me – “No we didn’t.  I mean we did but we didn’t have sex.”

Loren – “I know because you can’t but….  Jess did you do morning time cuddle and talk?”

Downstairs the guys had got to the same point in the conversation…..

Kevin – “You what!”

AJ – “Hey Kev you might want to keep your voice down.”

Kevin – “Listen Brian.  She is recovering from child birth, I don’t care what she says you do not do the morning cuddle and talk if you are not in a relationship.”

Brian – “It wasn’t like I had planned it.”

Kevin – “Brian, do you love her?”

Brian felt the eyes of the other two men on him.  “Of course I do.  I mean how can I not lover her, she had my children.”

Nick – “It’s more then that though isn’t it.”

Brian – “I don’t know we are still trying to get it all sorted out.  We had a nice talk this afternoon.  We’re not going to put any pressure on each other to figure out what is going on.”  Kevin sees Brian’s face soften and knows with out looking at we are coming back outside.  The door opens and the sound of us laughing at something Summer said proceeds us. 

Kevin turns and gives me a big hug.  I explain to him that the boys are upstairs sleeping and the next time they wake up he can feed one of them.  We had our little BBQ without further event or serious conversation.  Every now and then I would catch people whispering and look at me, but after a few well placed glares that stopped.  At 11 we had said good night to everyone and started to clean up.

Brian – “Come on Jess let’s just leave it for the morning.  We both need to rest.”

Me – “Okay”  I threw away what I had in my hands a started upstairs.  “So did you get yelled at too?”

Brian – “About what?”

“Our sleeping arrangements last night.”

“Yes I did.”  I stop at the top of the stairs and turn to face him.  He was on the top step so I was almost eye level with him. 

“Do you think they over reacted a little bit?”

“I think they totally over reacted.  Come on let’s get you to bed.”

“Where are you going to sleep?”

He smiles a really devious smile.  “Your extremely uncomfortable couch unless you have a better idea.”

“You said it was comfy.”

“It is for the few hours we are getting at a time.”

“I want tell if you won’t.”

“Deal.”  We shake hands and go to my bed and he sleeps on his side and I on mine. 

The next morning Nick and Summer were sitting in an airport lounge waiting for their plane to be called to take them home to Florida.  Nick was flipping through a magazime and didn’t notice how nervous Summer looked next to him.  “Hey Nick.”

“Yeah.”

“You know I’ve been doing a lot of thinking.”

He is still flipping through the magazine half paying attention to what she is saying.  “About what?”

“Well do you remember when we first started dating, and we would end up at the airport because either I was flying home or you would be going back to the tour?”

He finally realizes this conversation might require his full attention so he puts the book down.  “Of course I do.  You cried every time, and I always tried to make you go to Hawaii with me.”  He puts his arm around her.

“And you know that since we have been back together I have been making you wait until we started getting… you know physical again.”

“How can I forget?”  She turns and digs in her bag and hands him an envelope.  He reaches in and pulls out a first class ticket to Hawaii.  “Are you serious?”

She nods, as they call first class boarding for their new flight.  She smiles at him.  “Now since I bought the tickets you will have to buy me a bathing suit when we get there because I don’t have anything to wear and our luggage is headed back to Florida.”  She kisses him lightly grabs her purse and carry on and goes to the gate.

Nick sits in shock for a minute absorbing everything that she just said and then he gets it.  She is flying him to Hawaii to have sex!  He scrambles for his bag and runs after her picking her up from behind and hugging her.

“Nick put me down.”

He does and gets in front of her kissing her.  “I love you Summer.”

“I love you too.  Now lets go so we don’t miss our flight.”

He takes her by the hand and the run for the new flight.
