There's something about those boybands.
Chapter Sixty-eight

Juliana came to pick her kids up at the airport.  She had brought Hugh's car, a silver Lexus, which they all fit in comfortably.  Her and Ginger sat in the front while Josh, Liz and Summer got in the backseat.

Juliana - "So how was the trip?"

Ginger - "It was alright?"

Juliana - "What about you honey?  Did you have a good time with AJ?"

Summer - "Um yeah, but I spent most of my time with his one friend Nick."  She had decided to let her mom in on the fact they were dating.

Juliana - "Oh really.  And what's he like?"

Summer - "He's really nice.  You'll like him a lot.  He might come down to visit me next time they have time off."

Juliana - "Well that would be nice for you.  So Liz how was the flight for you?"

Liz - "It was fine Mrs. Grant."

Juliana - "Oh please call me Juliana.  I'm not near as formal as my husband."

Josh - "That's good."

Juliana - "Joshua, you know you're father loves you."

Josh - "I know mom.  Its just hard to talk to him sometimes."

Juliana - "I know honey.  But I've got good news.  Your Uncles are in town."

Summer - "They are!"

Juliana - "Yeah they decided to just pop down for a quick visit."

Ginger - "They've probably been making Lina crazy."  That's the girl she left in charge of her shop while she was gone.

Juliana - "Actually she has put them in their place and they have only been there like twice to look at your new designs."

Ginger - "I told her not to take any of their shit and I guess she listened."

Juliana - "So we decided to have an all American cook out to welcome Liz tonight.  Is that okay or did you kids have plans?"

Josh - "No that's fine mom."

They make small talk the rest of the drive to the house.  Once they get there everyone piles in to their respective bedrooms.  Summer immediately calls Nick and Josh helps Liz get settled into his room with him.  Hugh is still at work so Juliana takes Ginger back to her apartment.

Juliana - "well I must say I'm impressed with your brother's choice in girls."

Ginger - "Liz is really great."

Juliana - "She sure got him in to shape.  He seems like a real gentleman now.  Your father will be happy."

Ginger thinks to herself, if you only knew.

Juliana - "So tell me about this boy that your sister likes."

Ginger - "Who Nick?"  She nods.  "Well there's not much to say.  He's in the same group as AJ, they met when she went up to New York and I guess they liked each other from the start but she was seeing Brett.  And now she not so I guess they're going to start dating."

Juliana - "Is he a nice guy or do I have to keep an eye on him."

Ginger - "No need to worry mom, he a sweet kid.  Besides AJ's got him scared of what happens if he hurts Summer so he's not going to do anything stupid."

Juliana - "So how is young Alex doing?  Did you get a chance to spend anytime with him?"

Ginger - "Yeah.  He's doing well.  He's really grown up, almost makes me wish I was younger."

Juliana - "Oh really."

Ginger - "I said almost.  I love Danny and that's not going to change for anything."

Juliana - "I know honey."  She sits quietly for a minute not sure how her next comment is going to be taken.  "I've meet Kaity.  She's so sweet."

Ginger - "really when?"

Juliana - "I talk Danny into letting me take her for an afternoon so I could get to know her."

Ginger - "Really, what did you guys do?"

Juliana - "Lets see, we went for lunch and then a little shopping and then over to the children's museum.  She's a pretty smart little kid, you should have seen her at the Archeology exhibit.  She was so sure she was going to find her own dinosaur bone."

Ginger - "I'm sure she had a blast.  Thanks mom."

Juliana - "For what getting to know someone that's going to be part of your life."

Ginger - "For realizing that this isn't just a passing thing between Danny and me."

Juliana - "That's easy to see honey."  She pulls up in front of the shop.  "Here ya go.  Do you need any help getting the bags upstairs?"

Ginger - "No I'll just sit them inside and get them later.  I'm sure Lina has a million things that need my immediate attention."

Juliana - "Okay remember dinner at your dad's at five, bring bathing suits."

Ginger - "okay mom.  Love you."

Juliana - "Love you too sweetheart."

 ************************

Uncle Rupie and Uncle Herbie rang the door bell.

Herb - "I hope she likes us."

Rupie - "If she likes Joshua then we have nothing to worry about."

Summer opens the door.  "And what brings you handsome gentlemen to our humble little house?"

Rupie - "Good afternoon Summer."

Summer - "Hi Uncle Rupie."  They hug.

Herbie - "Oh quit hogging her.  Come here darling."  He also hugs her except really tight.  "And how is that young man of yours?"

Summer - "Shh.  Dads doesn't know about him."

Rupie just shakes his head.  "You know he might understand."

Summer - "Now you sound like Lexy."

Herbie - "Well you never know he might approve."

Summer - "Yeah right.  At least you guys have met him.  Do I get your approval?"

Rupie - "I don't think that morning I came home and found the two of you sleeping constitutes a meeting."

Herbie - "No next time he's in New York he has to come by for dinner so we can get to know him."

She thinks of Nick sitting through a whole meal with Rupert and Herb.  "Maybe I'll have AJ bring him by."

Rupie - "Good.  Now where is that brother of yours?"

Summer - "Him and Liz are out by the pool with dads."

Herb - "Are they behaving?"

Summer - "Surprisingly yes."  They make their way out back.  "Guess who I found on our door step."

They come in and hugs are exchanged.

Josh - "Uncle Rupie, Uncle Herb.  This is my girlfriend Elizabeth Webber."  She slowly stands up and makes her way over.  Even though she had been prepared for meeting the uncles she was still a nervous wreck.

Liz - "Hi."  She extends her shaking hand.

Herbie - "Oh honey."  He pulls her towards him.  "Joshua she is freezing, get her a towel will you."

Liz - "No I'm okay."  Josh hands her a towel.  "I guess I just got a breeze from the air conditioning and it gave me a chill."  She wraps the towel around her.

Rupie - "Where's Juliana?"

Hugh - "She's run to the store to get something for Kaitlynne to drink."  Summer listens for any sarcasm when he talks about her but there is none.

Herbie - "Oh is Danny coming too."  He asks so he can prepare himself for the fall out.  If he only knew that Danny being there is going to inconsequential compared to what Josh has to say.

Summer - "He's working but he might try to make it by later."  Ginger and Kaity come out on to the deck then.  She's a little shy so she hides behind Ginger's legs.  "Hey."

Ginger - "Hey. Come on Kaity these are the people we were talking about in the car."  She looks around at all of them.  "It's okay."  She pulls on Gingers shorts and she bends down so she can whisper in her ear.  "Where's mom?"

Hugh - "She ran to the store."

Ginger - "She just want to the store quick she'll be right back sweetie.  Okay now that's my sister Summer, my brother Josh, his girlfriend Liz, and my dad you can call him, Mr. Grant.  And you met my uncles, Rupie and Herbie the other day do you remember them."  Rupie waves at her.  She smiles and waves back.

Summer - "Did you bring your bathing suit?"

Kaity - "Yes, I have it on under my clothes."

Summer - "Very smart, are you ready to go swimming?"

Kaity - "Yes please.  Are you coming Ginger?"

Ginger - "In a little bit honey.  Go ahead with Summer."
