There's something about those boybands.
Chapter Fourty-Nine

Summer's phone rings, she rolls over and looks at the clock. It's one forty.

Summer - "hello?"

Nick - "Hey, sorry I didn't call earlier I just woke up?"

Summer - "That's okay I'm still in bed."

Nick - "really. I wish I was there next to you."

Summer - "Oh yeah that would be good. My dad wouldn't have freaked out or anything."

Nick - "Don't you have a lock on your door."

Summer - "Well yeah. But I don't think we are up to that point yet."

Nick - "No I guess not, so what are you doing today?"

Summer - "Well I'd like to see you."

Nick - "Good. Give me your address I'll take a cab over and we can figure out what we are going to do when I get there."

Summer - "You sure I can pick you up."

Nick - "No that's okay. I know you don't want me to meet your dad but I'd still like to see where you live."

Summer - "Okay. But I've got to get a shower and stuff so don't like rush over." She gives him the address. "I guess I'll see you in a little bit."

Nick - "Okay." They hang up and she calls her dad. Thankfully she got his voice mail.

Summer - "Hey dads it's me I'm going to the beach with the girls today we might get dinner later I'm not sure what time I'll be home I'll give you a call later and check in. I love you bye." After hanging up she jumps out of bed and gets in the shower.

She was in the kitchen making a sandwich when the door bell rang.

Summer - "Hey Nick."

Nick - "Hey. Nice house."

Summer - "Thanks. Come on in, I was making a sandwich you want one?"

Nick - "Sure." He comes in and starts looking around. "This place is a lot bigger then it looks." He walks over and looks out the big windows that face the pool. "You swim a lot."

Summer - "Of course. I love the water. I mean I was really upset when we moved from Orlando cause I missed AJ, but we were still close to the water so I was able to manage."

Nick - "Do you scuba?"

Summer - "Yeah. Want to go?"

Nick - "Hell yeah. I can never find anyone that wants to go with me."

Summer - "Well come on I've got my gear out in the garage."

Nick - "I'll have to rent some mine's at home." She hands him his sandwich.

Summer "I know some guys that will lend you theirs." She thinks for a minute. "Wait nevermind I know somewhere else I can dig some up." She didn't want to say that if she called her friends that it would get back to Brett. "Come on we can eat in the car." He follows her out to the garage and stops as soon as he sees her truck. "What?"

Nick - "Somehow I pictured you have this little girly car."

Summer - "You mean like a pink convertible."

Nick - "Yeah." She laughs.

Summer - "I used to. But it wasn't very practical for hauling around my scuba gear so I talked my dad into letting me trade it in for this." She takes her gear off the rack its kept on.

Nick - "Here let me get that." He takes it. "You are a strong little thing aren't you."

Summer - "hey never underestamite the little people." He lays it in the back and shuts the gate.

Nick - "Anything else?"

Summer - "Nope. Wanna drive?" She dangles the keys in front of him.

Nick - "Yeah." He takes them from her and goes around to the passenger side.

Summer - "Steering wheel's on the other side genuis."

Nick - "I know I was just trying to be a gentleman and help you in the truck." He takes her hand and helps her in. She turns around and catchs him looking at her butt.

Summer - "Bullshit you just wanted to try to look up my shorts."

Nick - "Well that's just a bonus." He gives her a lopsided smile and runs around the other side. He gets in and hits his knees on the dash. Summer is trying really hard not to laugh. "Go ahead yuck it up." He adjusts the seat.

Summer - "You do know how to drive don't you."

Nick - "Of course." He starts it up. Then looks over at her. "Okay where's reverse?"

Summer - "Funny." He puts it in reverse and backs out of the garage.

Later that afternoon.

Summer swam past some beautiful red coral. She had lost Nick again. He had started this game of hide and seek and was winning. She caught a flash of something up ahead so she swam towards it. Going around a bend she felt something grab her ankle. She turned around and there was Nick. He pointed up so they swam up to the surface.

Summer - "Hey you cheated."

Nick - "No I didn't you're just a sore loser."

Summer - "I didn't lose cause you cheated."

Nick - "How did I cheat?"

Summer - "I don't know but I'm sure you did."

Nick - "Just give it up I won."

Summer - "Okay fine." She wades closer and kiss him. "There. Happy?"

Nick - "No." He grabs the strap of her tank and pulls her closer for a longer kiss. "Now that's better."

Summer - "Where's the boat?"

Nick - "Behind you. You ready to go back already?"

Summer - "Yeah my legs are getting kind of shaky."

Nick - "I've heard I had that affect on women."

Summer - "I'm so sure." She starts over to the boat. Nick swims past her.

Nick - "Come on slow poke."

He beats her there and then helps her up on the boat. Summer sat down on the bench. Bruce, the guy who's boat they rented comes up from below.

Bruce - "You kids done."

Summer - "Yeah I think so. You're done aren't you?"

Nick - "Yeah." He's taking off his tank.

Bruce - "All right I'll start back." He goes up and starts it up. Summer goes to take off her gear.

Nick - "here let me help."

Summer - "Thanks." She turns around so he can help with her tank. Just when he gets it sat down next to his, Bruce speeds up and Summer loses her balance and falls into Nick's arms. "Sorry."

Nick - "That's okay." He still has his hands on her upper arms trying to steady her. "You alright?"

Summer - "Yeah I just lost my balance."

Nick - "Why don't you sit down?"

Summer - "Good idea. Let me just get the rest of this stuff off." She unzips her suit and then lays it over the side by the tanks. Nick is sitting on the bench. She sits next to him and leans against his chest. The sun is shining on both of them. "This feels so nice."

Nick - "yeah it does." He hesitates for a second then he wraps his arms around her hugging her close. He nuzzles his face into her damp hair. He loves the smell of the saltwater mixed with the conditioner she uses. He just closes his eyes and holds her until they get back to the dock.

They didn't really fall asleep just kind of dozed for a few minutes. Bruce docking woke them up. Summer stretches and smiles at him.

Bruce - "Okay kids there ya go." Summer hops over to the deck.

Nick - "Thanks Bruce."

Bruce - "You're welcome. Just remember me if you kids ever need a boat again."

Summer - "We will." Nick hands her the last of the their stuff and then steps over on to the dock also.

Bruce - "Take care." The kids wave. After dropping of the rental scuba tank they head back to the truck.

Summer - "Well now what?"

Nick - "I am starving!"

Summer - "Me too. Where you want to go? I'm not really dressed for anything except fast food."

Nick - "Well I could wait while you went home and changed."

Summer - "No my dad might me home. Wait I could run to my sister's quick she's not too far from here."

Nick - "I'd like to met your sister. It would be nice to see the girl who had AJ in knots for years."

Summer - "I bet you would. Okay but don't do anything to make her suspect something."

Nick - "I won't I promise." He gives her the little boy scout hand signal.

Summer - "Some how I doubt you were a good boyscout."
