There's something about those boybands.
Chapter Sixty-four

Ginger and Summer rang the bell on the door of the small house that Josh rents.  Liz opens the door. "Hi", the girls said in unison.

Liz - "Hi yall come on in."  She ushers them inside and kisses cheeks as they pass.  "Dinner will be ready in about ten minutes go make yourselves comfortable."  Josh's in the living room.  They go in to the living room.  You can tell that Liz had a hand in decorating the house.

Josh - "Hey ladies whatcha think."

Summer - "I think we've entered the twilight zone.  Josh your house is clean."

Josh - "That would be Elizabeth.  She hates messes."

Ginger - "Then how did she hook up with you?"

Josh - "Beats me."

Ginger - "No seriously.  How did you guys meet?"

Josh - "Liz you want to take this one?"  She comes in from the kitchen.

Liz - "What?"

Ginger - "How did a nice girl like you end up with my brother?"

Liz - "Oh."  She laughs.  "I'm out here on a scholarship so to get some extra money I work in the cafeteria.  One day he came in with some of his friends and caused a food fight.  Well they had to stay and clean up the mess.  I had to show him how to use a mop."

Josh - "No you didn't."

Liz - "You were getting the place soaked!"

Josh - "That's just how I mop."

Liz - "Anyway.  They took forever to get the job done and afterwards he asked me out for a drink."

Josh - "She turned me down."

Liz - "And then he came back the next day and threaten to start a food fight everyday until I said I would go out with him.  Once again I said no, and he started another food fight."

Josh - "Which at that point I was permently banned from the café."

Liz - "Why don't you tell them what you did next?"

Josh - "I sent all my friends in one at a time with flowers."

Summer - "Oh that is so sweet."

Liz - "He almost got me fired.  So I had no choice but to go out with him so he would stop harassing me."

Josh - "And then she fell in love with me."  He pulls her on his lap.

Liz - "Oh yeah it was just that simple."  They sit for a moment looking in to each others eyes.  He places his hand on her stomach and kisses her cheek.  "Well dinners probably ready."

Summer - "I'll give you a hand."  The two of them leave.

Ginger - "She seems really great Josh."

Josh - "She is.  Hey sis I need to talk to you about something thats kind of important."

Ginger - "What's up?"

Summer - "Food's on the table."

Josh - "It can wait until after dinner.  Liz will kill us if the food gets cold."

Liz had made so much food.  Where was a roast with little carrots, a salad, some kind of green bean casserole and then cornbread.

Ginger - "How many people are coming?"

Liz - "Just us.  I have like four brothers.  I don't know how to just make a little bit of food.  Well everyone sit down."  They sit down and eat and eat.  Liz tells stories about her growing up in Texas and what it was like being the youngest child on a working cattle ranch.  One thing for sure they will never look at a steak the same way.  Once everyone gets done Liz gets up to clear the table.

Josh - "That's okay honey sit down I can get it."  Both of his sisters look at him.

Summer - "Alright you're scaring me."

Ginger - "I know God stop it you're freaking me out."

Josh - "Ah shut up."  He takes starts taking plates in to the kitchen.

Ginger - "I'll say one thing for you Liz you sure got that boy in to shape."

Liz - "Well I'm working it.  Why don't we go in the other room and let him get this."

So the three of them go into the other room and Josh comes out in a few minutes.  "Okay the dishes are in the dishwasher and the pots are in soaking."

Liz - "Okay.  Did you tell them?"

Josh - "Not yet.  You want me to do it now."

Liz - "Yeah."

Josh - "Well we have been thinking about it for a while and we've decided to get married."

Summer - "Oh my god really."

Josh - "Yeah I was going to take Liz home next week while mom's still in the country and tell her and dads at the same time."

Summer - "That is so great!"  She goes and hugs Liz.  "I'm going to have another big sister."

Josh - "Ging, you're kind of quiet."

Ginger - "I just really wasn't excepting that."

Josh - "Aren't you happy for me?"  Liz has like a death grip on Summer's hand.  It occurs to her then that Liz really does want and need their approval.

Ginger - "Of course I am.  Come here."  She hugs him tight.  "Somehow I always thought I'd get married first.  I'm very happy for you."  She lets him go and then goes to hug Liz.  "You just wait we are going to give you the best shower and bacholerette party.  Miami will never be the same."

Josh - "Actually we are probably getting married in Texas."

Ginger - "Oh I didn't even think of that.  Well then Texas will never be the same.  I think we need to toast.  Where's that wine I brought?  Summer go a few glasses."

Summer - "Um, okay."  She motions for Josh to follow her.  They get into the kitchen.  "Didn't you tell her about Liz?"

Josh - "No I thought you did?"

Summer - "No!"

Josh - "Well you tell her everything else!"

Summer - "Well I didn't tell her this."

Josh - "Great Delilah the one time I'm counting on you to snitch on me you don't."

Summer - "sorry."

Josh - "Now what?"

Summer - "Well you've got to tell her."

Josh - "I know."  He runs his hand through his hair.  "Here give me the glasses."  He gives her another evil look.

Summer - "hey its not my fault."  They get back to the living room.

Josh - "Here we go."

Ginger - "Oh good."  She fills up all of the glasses and then passes them to everyone.  "Okay now a toast.  To Elizabeth a very pretty girl from Texas who tamed my wild little brother and is turning him into a man."  Josh and Summer both down theirs while Liz takes a polite little sip.  "So when are you guys going to do it?"

Liz - "I'd like to do it before I get all big and fat."

Ginger - "Are you kidding me. you're so tiny.  I bet even when you guys decide to have kids that youll still be tiny."  Liz throws Josh a look.  "Am I missing something?"

Josh - "Um Thalia, Liz is pregnant.  We're going to have a baby."

Ginger sits there for a moment in silence.  She pours herself another glass of wine and sips it.  Then out of no where starts laughing so hard she cries.

Summer - "Okay you want to share the joke."

Ginger - "It's not a joke.  I'm just thinking about the look on dads' face when you tell him.  Between the marriage and the baby and then me with a married man he's never going to allow us anywhere near Summer again.  That is until he finds out that she chased Nick the whole way across the country."

Summer - "Hey I didn't chase him.  He invited me."

Ginger gets herself under control.  Liz looks ready to cry.  "Oh please don't cry its okay.  It really is.  Our family's just a little weird."

Liz - "Everyone's going to hate me."  She is crying now, Ginger kneels in front of her and takes her hands

Ginger - "No.  No ones going to hate you.  Uncle Rupie and Uncle Herbie are going to eat you up your so cute.  And mom is just the best.  Its just some times our father likes to revert back to the 17th century."

Summer - "He can't help it he means well.  Tell you what, how about we go back when you guys do and give a little moral support."  She sits on the arm of the chair Liz is in and puts her arm around the other girl's shoulders.

Liz - "You'd do that.  What about Nick?"

Summer - "He'll understand.  This is important."

Liz - "If you guys are sure.  I don't want to make you feel like you have to go."

Josh - "Trust me these two don't do anything they don't want to."  He can't help but be happy about the way they are supporting Liz.  Especially after her family's initial reaction.

Liz - "You know what this is always what I thought having sisters would be like.  Thank you."  They all hug and Josh hands them a box of tissues.
