There's something about those boybands.
Chapter Sixty-nine

Summer took Kaity down the steps and to go swimming.  Ginger sits by Liz and Josh without saying a word to Hugh.  Rupie comes to join them while Herb talks to Hugh about the newest acquisitions the museum has gotten.  Juliana gets back and joins them in the pool.  Kaity instantly livens up when she gets there.  Not long after Hugh says that the foods ready.  They sit and eat like hamburgers and hotdogs stuff like that.  Its weird because they still basically have an adults and kids table.

At the kids' table

Ginger - "So when are you going to do it?"

Josh - "I don't know soon I guess."

Summer - "Well wait until he finishes eating you know how it pisses him off to be interrupted while he's eating."

Josh - "He's going to be mad either way."

Liz - "Yeah but maybe we should wait we don't want to make him more angry."

Josh - "Yeah I got to run inside for a minute I'll be right back."  He leaves the table.

Liz - "I know I haven't known you guys for very long but I know from Josh that you are both honest and I need you to answer something for me honestly.  Do you think Josh is having second thoughts about me?"

Ginger - "What!  Liz no."

Summer - "No way he loves you."

Liz - "But this whole marriage and baby thing is really going to osterize him from his family."

Ginger - "No not at all.  I mean its going to be shocking for them I'm sure but the only one that's going to go off the deep end is going to be our dad.  No matter what he says don't pay any attention to him."

Summer - "He doesn't mean to say hurtful things but it just always comes out that way."  Ginger looks like she was going to argue with Summer about that but then remembered they were trying to calm Liz down.

Ginger - "You just need to prepare yourself for Uncle Herbie's running hug."

Summer - "Yeah make sure you're standing by a chair so you can grab a hold."  they laugh.  Josh comes back out and looks at their table.  "Oh uh."

Ginger - "Looks like this is it."

Josh - "Um dads can I talk to you for a minute?"

Hugh - "Sure Josh."

Josh - "Privately."  The two of them get up and go inside.  Juliana looks over at the other table.  The girls are both sitting protectively on either side of Liz.

Juliana - "Okay girls what's going on."  They shrug their shoulders.  "Right."

Inside....

Josh - "Okay dad I'm going to cut right to the chase here.  Liz and I are getting married.  She's having a baby and we decided that it was something that we wanted to do."  Hugh sits there in shock.  "Are you going to say something?"

He looks up at him.  "What would you like me to say Joshua?"

Josh - "I'd like you to say you're happy for me but I know that's not going to happen."

Hugh - "You expect me to be happy that you are ruining your life.  Or should I be happy about the fact that I don't even know this girl that you are marrying.  Do you even know this girl?"

Josh - "Yes I know her.  She's smart and beautiful and funny and she loves me."

Hugh - "She can't be that smart if she let herself get pregnant.  Unless she got pregnant on purpose."

Josh - "Stop right there.  She has so scared to death to tell me she was pregnant, she thought I'd leave her and you know what I thought about it for a minute.  But I love her too much dads.  She's going to be part of my life just deal with it."

Hugh - "You come in to my house and drop this kind of news and expect me to be like, okay whatever ruins your life I don't care.  I'm sorry son I can't watch you ruin your life this way.  What about school?  Are you intending to finish?"

Josh - "Of course I am its my senior year.  Liz is going to finish this semester and then she's going to take off a semester and finish her classes over the summer.  We've got it all figured out dad."

Hugh - "I'm sure you think you do.  What about this child you are planning to bring in to the world, you can't just discard it when you tire of it.  And you will.  You've never followed through with anything in your life.  You should do this girl a favor and end things now.  Let her go to her family and let them support her."

Josh - "You are a piece of work you know that dads.  Have you not been listening to me, I love her.  I'm not going anywhere unless its with her."

Hugh - "You and your sister are just alike.  Fine don't listen to me.  But I don't want to hear about it when you realize that you can't handle being a father or a husband."

Josh - "Thanks for your support dads.  It means so much."  He walks back out to the deck.  "Come on Liz we're leaving."

Juliana - "What's going on?"

Josh - "I just gave dads some news he didn't exactly like.  And it typical fashion he was very clear how disappointed he is."

Rupert - "What news?"

Hugh - "Oh you mean I actually was the first to know for a change.  It seems that Josh and Liz are getting married and having a baby."  They just sit there in shock.  Liz has a death grip on Josh's hand.  "See you don't see them jumping for joy either do you?"

Ginger - "Dads that's enough."  Danny gets there about that time.  As soon as he walks out on the deck he feels the tension.

Danny - "Hi sorry I'm late."

Hugh - "Yes you are and normally I would comment on your tardiness but I've got other matters on my mind right now."  Ginger stands up.

Ginger - "Would it really kill you to be nice to him for once?"

Hugh - "Considering the fact that Kaitlynne is present I think I am being nice."

Ginger looks down at Kaity.  She has been through so many of her own mothers drunken rages that she can't stand to have her there.  "It's okay sweetie.  Why don't you go with your daddy and I'll meet you outside in a minute."  She gets her shoes and walks towards her dad but stops first at Hugh.

Kaity - "Thank you for letting me swim in your pool Mr. Grant."

Hugh - "You're welcome Kaity."

The two of them go outside.  "Josh you two are always welcome at my house you know that.  I'm sorry I've got to get out of here."  She grabs her bag and leaves without saying another word to Hugh.  He storms inside.

Summer - "Are you guys really leaving?"

Josh - "I think it would be best.  Mom you haven't said anything."

Juliana - "I'm still a little shocked thats all."

Josh - "Well we didn't really plan this otherwise I would have given you a little warning."

Juliana - "I know.  How are you feeling Liz?  Are you going to the doctor?"

Liz - "I feel fine.  And yes I'm going to the doctor.  I'm due right around Valentines day."

Rupert - "so that means your about, what three months."

Liz - "Yeah some where around there."

Juliana - "When and where are you getting married?"

Josh - "What did we decide on?  The last weekend in September in Texas."

Liz - "Thats where I'm from."

Juliana - "How did your family take the news?"

Liz - "Well they were furious.  But then they got over it."

Josh - "Kind of."

Juliana - "Well let me know where in Texas so I can get a flight and a room."  Josh smiles at her.  "What did you think that I would miss your wedding?  I'm not happy about any of this but I admire you two for doing the right thing."  Josh goes over to hug her.

Josh - "I love you mom."

Juliana - "You kids are going to be the death of me."

Summer - "Well we try."

Juliana - "Is there any news you want to share?"

Summer - "No not really.  Oh I am going to be going to New York on the ninth to be Nick's date for the Video awards."

Rupert - "Thats it right. No elopement plans."

Summer - "No I'm far away from wanting to get married.  Uncle Herbie are you okay?"

Herbie - "I'm fine.  Can I come hug you now?"  He asks Liz.  She nods.  He gets up and pulls her out of her chair into a tight hug.

Josh - "welcome to the Grant family."
